The primary purpose of ration card is to get food grains at a subsidized rate. However, it is also an identity card to get other official documents such as voter ID etc. They also work as a proof of address.
Recently, the usual ration cards have been converted into digital ration cards, which is also a step towards a digital India.

How to apply for new digital ration card in West Bengal?

In order to apply for a new digital ration card in West Bengal, you will have to visit the nearest ration card office:

  1. Visit the nearest ration card office and ask the official about the new digital          ration card application form and he will provide you with one.
  2. Once you have received the form from the official, fill in the form with correct details and attach the residential proof and photo ID proof and also attach the income proof of age and age proof of Head of the family and cross check the information you have provided and submit the form.

  1.  To get started, you will have to download the application form for New Ration Card Application in West Bengal.
  2. You can click on to this link http://www.pradhanmantriyojana.in/wp-content /uploads/2017/06/1020.pdf to download the form. 
  3. Once downloaded, fill in the required details correctly.  
  4. In that form you will also have to provide details of your family members such as name, age etc. and mention correct age details of all the family members the form is asking for.
  5. Submit a recent photograph, proof of address and proof of identity along with the application form. 
  6. Once filled, cross check the application form and submit it at the nearest office.

·        Passport sized photograph
·        Residential ID card (Electricity bill, water bill, voter ID card etc)
·        Photo ID proof (Voter ID card, Aadhaar card, Driving License)
·        Family member details and residential proofs
·        Income proof and age proof of Head of the family

 How to track the status of your application using WBPDS website?

Once you have submitted the form, you can also track the status of your application form using the online facility. Read the below mentioned steps to know how to check the application status of your digital ration card online:
  
  1. Visit the official website of West Bengal Ration Card i.e. https://wbpds.gov.in/
  2. Once visited, look for "Features" from the above mentioned options.
  3. From the drop down look for "Check Ration Card Application Status", on the resulting page, you will have to select your district, municipality, or block and enter the last 8 digits of your application number. 
  4. You can also enter the 16 digit application number in the space provided and click on the search button to track the status of your application.
