How To Check EPF Balance
EPF
stands for Employees Provident Fund. It has been introduced by the government
to encourage savings by the people. Every organization that employs more than
20 employees is required to contribute a part of their income to the Employees
Provident Fund of its employees. Besides this, the EPF also acts a retirement
scheme that aims at providing financial security to people in their old age. Another
benefit of the EPF account is that it acts as a safety net for people at the
time of emergency. EPF was established with the passing of the Employees
Provident Fund Scheme in 1952. EPF act was formed by the Central Board of
Trustees which in turn is a formation comprising of employers, employees and
the government.

The
EPF balance refers to the balance available in the EPF account of a person. The
employee contributes 12% of its salary whereas the employer makes a
contribution of about 3.5% every month. The various ways of checking the amount
available in the EPF account are:
Check balance via UAN:
- Visit the official UAN online portal.http://www.epfindia.com/site_en/
- Log in with the UAN number and password.
- Enter your current mobile number.
- Now, fill in the name of the state and EPF city where the EPF office is located.
- Fill in the captcha code in the box provided for it.
- An OTP will be sent to the mobile number that you have registered earlier.
- Enter the OTP and in the appropriate box and then click on “submit”.
- The EPF balance details will be sent to your registered mobile number.
Check EPF with a missed call or SMS:
- Before using this service the account holder must be sure that his or her UAN number is activated.
- Further, The UAN must also be seeded with the Aadhaar card and the Pan card.
- After this, the account holder is required to provide his or her KYC details which will be saved in the UAN database.
- Once all the above procedure is completed, the person will receive the EPF details in his or her registered mobile number every time they send an SMS or give a missed call to EPF number, i.e,01122901406.
Check EPF balance with the help of mobile app:
- Download the mobile app.
- After downloading the app click on “member”.
- After this, a page will appear where you can provide your current mobile number. The mobile number will be verified by UAN.
- Once the verification process is completed and the mobile number provided matches with the mobile number available in the UAN database, a page will display showing the details of EPF balance.
- It must be noted that at any cost the mobile number provided should match with the mobile number available at the EPF database. If it does not match then the screen will throw an error.
